What are Backlinks?

A backlink is more than just a link though; it’s an opportunity to get exposure for your site. When someone clicks on the backlink and goes to your site, they’re much more likely to leave a review or recommend you to their friends (and those friends will probably click through the link too).
A backlink is a link from some other website to that web resource. A web resource may be a website, web page, or web directory. When you submit a new web resource to the search engine, it will appear on search results pages (SERPs) in addition to appearing in your own site's directory. The more links you have pointing to your site (and vice versa), the greater chance your site will rank higher in SERPs. Backlinks are important because they increase the likelihood that Google will consider your website when someone searches for something related to your business.
