How important is the ratio between follow and no-follow links?

The ratio between follow and no-follow links has been an important consideration in the field of search engine optimization (SEO). However, it's important to note that my knowledge cutoff is in September 2021, and search engine algorithms and best practices may have evolved since then. Traditionally, follow links have been considered more valuable for SEO because they pass link equity or "link juice" from one webpage to another. When a reputable website links to another website using a follow link, it signals to search engines that the linked-to website is trustworthy and relevant. This can positively impact the linked-to website's search engine rankings. On the other hand, no-follow links are intended to signal search engines that the linked-to website should not receive any SEO benefit from the link.
