What are contextual backlinks?

Contextual backlinks are links that appear within the text on your page. They should be discussed as part of the content being linked to and can only be used for pages linking directly to other pages, without any ads, sidebars or footers. The content being linked to must be a direct match to the page that is linking out. Contextual backlinks are links placed within the main body of text on a page (not just location links for “more information” or “related resources”), to further enhance sites and content. They don't appear on listings pages, nor will they appear within sidebars, footers or ad slots. The location where contextual links reside in a site's directory can be edited by the webmaster by placing the link in a different place, after those in the main body of text have been placed.

Contextual backlinks are links to other websites. They fit organically within content (usually text). Contextual links never appear in sidebars, footers, ads, or within the navigation. They are exclusively found in locations reserved for the primary content.
