What are Dofollow & Nofollow backlinks, and how do they differ?
Dofollow and nofollow links are two types of backlinks that you can give to certain websites to help them rank higher in search engines such as Google. Dofollow links are linked to your website and follow certain best practices for a "dofollow" link, which is where the web browser displays the URL in the search results as it encounters it. These are generally used by companies or organizations seeking a high level of brand recognition and/or customer conversions.
A dofollow link is one that helps you boost your own ranking. Any website that links to yours is counted as a “dofollow” backlink, which means the search engine will count it as a signal of quality and importance. It increases your page rank and may even get you better rankings! A nofollow link, however, isn’t treated as valuable by search engines – Google has its reasons for this, but it probably has something to do with a potential for abuse. Nofollow links don’t benefit you in any way, so looking for them on your site can hurt your rankings.
