Is it possible for websites to rank without any link building?
Nowadays, most websites rank in Google without building a single link. But that doesn't mean that they don't have backlinks. Most websites today have a lot of outbound links pointing to them from other sites, which means they must be getting more traffic than many thought possible without any effort. It's important to understand how this works; it may not mean that any one page is ranking better than another page on the same topic (#truestory). Instead, having tons of outbound links can make it seem like certain pages are ranking higher for certain keywords because customers are finding them easier than others.
It's true that many websites rank without building any link for their site. But this doesn't mean that they don't have links. Most websites aren't aware of the fact that they already have a lot of links in place - they just haven't been discovered yet.
Google has said that if you don't have a link portfolio, then you can't rank. That's not entirely true though. You could improve your visibility on Google by simply building a backlink or two for your site and see if that helps you rank better!
